To make a long story short in January 2008 I delivered a baby girl via emergency C-Section because of a rare uterine rupture. The Doctors had to perform a partial hystorectomy in order to save my life and the life of the baby. So for the last 2 1/2 years I have had one ovary which was supplying me with the estrogen I needed. In May of this year I noticed some tenderness and called the Dr. I was amazed to find out that I had a ovarian cyst about 5 cm. So the Dr's put a watch on it to see if it would dissolve on his own or would I have to have surgery which I would possibly lose my other ovary and would thus put me into menopause. After 2 more months of montoring the cyst grew and another formed so we decided to have it drained if possible and removed as the last resort. Well I had the surgery 2 weeks ago and the Dr's had to remove the ovary because I had endometrosis that had attached the ovary to my bladder and bowl. I am still in recovery now and every day is a new adventure. My question is, has anyone else gone through surgically enduced menopause at an early age? The emotions, mood swings, anxiety, hot flashes and night sweats are more than a notion. It has been a big adjustment having to deal with all of this at one time. The Doctor put me on a hormone patch for awhile for my body to get adjusted to not having the estrogen. I have read so many things about the patch that all I can do is pray and believe God that everything is going to be alright. Do anyone know of anything naturally that I can do to help with the estrogen issue. I know there are many products out there to help with the hot flashes and night sweats but nothing else? Any advise and comments would greatly be appreciated. The one good thing about it is that God has already blessed me with 3 beautiful girls so I am thankful I had them early in my marriage.

First of all, welcome to CW!! This is a great place to be.

Second of all, I am sorry to hear that you lost both ovaries so early....

Third, there are a few posters here that have gone through surgically induced menopause at an early age. There is an ongoing peri-menopause and menopause support thread where those women and others have been sharing their experiences.

I am 31, and had a hysterectomy in February (at age 30) to get rid of cancer. I specifically declined the synthetic HRT because of the cancer, but have found that vitex (chasteberry) and a few other natural products help with all of the side effects of menopause. And as Megan posted, there is the menopause thread which is full of women going through the same things as you and I ... so come and check it out. (We don't bite!)

I sware by natural progesterone. It cuts the edge off while going on the roller coaster ride. Yes, you do have additional stuff to deal w/ because physiologically, the body does have a difficult time adjusting to having the flow completely interrupted. I was even like that when I was pregnant & also when breast feeding. In order to avoid any of the difficult issues that come along w/ HRT, I completely recommend it & if you need an additional mild anti-depressant, you don't have to be ashamed of it. Too many folks are counting on us to have it all together & the small additional helps can make that possible. k
