I liked this team too. Sorry to see them go so soon.

I don't know why some people think Cowboys are stupid, but I guess they're seeing otherwise and I'm luvin' it!

Detectives huh? Need I say more? lol

Only one of the lesbians was doing the task, she was working with the woman from the other team (who they were on the bus with) so it looked like both of them were doing the task.

Sorry to see grandma go but she almost seemed too laid back about the whole thing. I thought it was kind of cruel to say on national TV that basically the grand daughter she was with was her favorite of all her grandchildren.

Grandma seemed like she was in no rush at all which kinda ironic because it is a race. I'm liking the cowboy and I still like Jeff and Jordan. The lesbians are just annoying and I'm starting not to like the couple with the Asian husband after he started saving space in the line for the lesbian.

A few thoughts. . .

I felt so bad for the grandma when that cow kicked her in the head.

I couldn't believe all the teams knew that a baker's dozen was 13. I thought there would be at least one not so bright team that would miss that part.

The cowboys did awesome. I'm going to root for them from now on.

Jordan is so ditzy and her boyfriend seems to enjoy making her look especially ditzy during the interviews.

Chile was beautiful. Might have to add that to my list of places I'd like to visit.

Thank you for clarifying that. I was confused, too.

I wasn't particularly sorry to see them go. They were nice, but obviously they weren't going to make it far in the competition. As you said, she seemed almost too laid back, although that might have been due to her age. And I cringed when she said that remark about her favorite granddaughter. That being said, however, I felt so sorry for her getting kicked like that. I'm amazed that they didn't have a serious injury in this challenge. Cows can be nasty creatures.

Like the detectives. In fact my favorite line of last night's episode was one of theirs. "Drive this car like you stole it!" (Although if they hadn't missed the sign they wouldn't have had to drive like madmen.)

I, too, kept waiting for somebody to only pick up 12 eggs. I was surprised when everybody knew the correct number.

Who was it who said, "Saving a space in line? What is this, elementary school?" That was another good line because it was dead-on. That was just rude.

Love...love...love the cowboys. I ROFL laughing when they just stood by and let that other couple miss their bus. I didn't think it was too unethical...this is a competion...I probably would have done the same thing. Looks like in next week's episode, tho, they're going to get a grilling for it. That lesbian couple are really getting on my nerves.

Anybody want to guess how many calories that German dessert has?

I think I heard the wife of the eliminated couple say that her husband had a fear of heights (I'm not sure, because I was groggy), if that's the case, then she should have done the challenge. I agree with walkingsoftly that his size was a possible hindrance to the task. Oh well, someone's got to be eliminated first.

I didn't see the show but... Regarding the challenges... the couples don't know what the challenge is until they've decided who will do the challenge.

Wouldn't that kind of defeat the purpose? I mean, you want to get done as fast as possible, so wouldn't it make more sense to have the best suited person do the challenge? I just don't see how, from the producer's POV, it makes a better show to have obviously unsuited people (like last week) fumbling around not doing well. (Now people who are suited and yet fumbling around is another matter. )

I'm picking my brain here...do they actually show the teams reading the challenge beforehand or is that just clever editing to make you think they do?

When a team gets to a challenge they open a card that says something like, "who likes or is good at solving puzzles?" Then the team picks who will do the challenge. They are then locked into that person doing the challenge. Then they open a sealed envelop that explains the challenge. One season that had a team mate who not only could not swim but was terrified of water diving to the bottom of a pool to collect something. Another time a woman who was terrified of heights ended up having to go over the side of a building. I can't remember if she was bungee jumping or riding a zipline.

The producers aren't interested in speed. They are only interested in a good show. Unsuited people being forced to do a challenge does make for a more exciting show. Someone conquering their fear makes for a better show. One partner who could obviously have done it better and faster stuck watching their partner stumble through a challenge makes for a better show.

Totally agree. She stopped being one of my favorite people after that comment. Then it just went downhill from there. I did cringe for her with the cow, though - that must have hurt.

Gotta say, I like the cowboys. What is it that they say? "Oh, my gravy!"

I love the cowboys. At first when they did not tell the people about the bus it bothered me because it is so early in the race. But it is strategy and it worked. It is none of the other racers business about what bus they took and how it worked out for them. They did their line saving allience and no one was supposed to question that, so get over it.

"favorite granddaughter" didn't bother me. I often say "favorite uncle" to my one and only uncle and my MIL calls me her "favorite son in law"...I am the only one she will ever have so it's safe.

Could be she's the only granddaughter and everyone else is grandsons.

I agree. It didn't bother me either. I didn't feel any kind of maliciousness coming from the Grandmother when she said it or see a "smirk" on the Granddaughter's face when it was said. Since I don't know the family dynamics, I just figured those two have a special bond. In part that's how they came to TAR and the Grandmother was kinda trying to explain that. At least that's how I took it. Anyways...they were my underdog team, so now I don't know who I'm gonna put in that slot...hmmmm....

I have to watch the show again, I was a bit unclear as to how the cowboys bus strategy worked.

I wonder if now that they've taken the lead if they will manage to stay ahead.

The grandmother's comment about "My favourite granddaughter" didn't bother me at all, I might have been a little more irked if it was a mother saying "my favourite daughter", but a grndmother I'd give a bit more leeway.

I realise that the grandmother was moving slowly but we have to take her age into account. Maybe she would have liked to move more quickly but she just has to take it slow (blood pressure, heart conditions, osteoporosis) we all know the ailments that come with old age.

And those cows - kicking people!!! Were they kicking because they were being milked incorrectly or were they just mean cows?

And did anyone see the way the cows defecated (is that the correct word???) while they were being milked, or while the cow next to them was being milked. Ha! Ha! That was too funny.

I have to watch the show again, I was a bit unclear as to how the cowboys bus strategy worked.

First of all, they were smart about getting to their destination. Almost everybody else only thought to ask about a non-stop bus to (?). The next non-stop was late at night, however. When I heard this, my immediate reaction was "What about an earlier connecting bus?" The cowboys immediately thought of that, too. Sure enough, there was a bus which left earlier, connected thru another city, and put them in at their destination earlier than the non-stop. They booked a connection leaving at 7 o clock.

Another couple thought of the same ploy. However, their connecting bus left at 6:30. The cowboys arrived first and went to the ticket window in hopes of catching this earlier connection. There they found out that that connection left from another bus terminal farther into the city. That's when the cowboys had a stroke of genius. They figured that the other couple didn't know their connection left from another terminal. Like the cowboys, they would simply assume the bus left from the terminal where they were. The cowboys banked that the other couple wouldn't think to check the status of their connection, and their gamble paid off. The couple discovered their mistake, but too late. They dashed to the other terminal, missed their own bus, dashed back, and tried to get on the cowboys' 7 o clock connection, but it was too late again. They had to take an even later connection.

Does that help?

Even if they don't I'll enjoy watching them.

I could be wrong but I thought she said "favorite grandchild". It's still a jab at her other gradnchildren no matter what sort of relationship they have.

Good show again tonight. The cowboys continue to have their act together! I cracked up when Jeff said to Jordan "We definitely shouldn't reproduce." Sad, but true. . . I was sad to see the lawyer moms go. The tasks were just too much for them tonight.

Not that I don't agree with him but I thought it was a really stupid heartless thing to say. She looked kind of sad when he said that.

Is it just me or do the challenges seem kind of easy this season?

I watched Jeff and Jordan on BB last season and it might look like on AR that he says meanful things to her but during the BB shows....that's how they pretty much started their friendship. The laughed at and with each other. Jeff is very smitten with Jordan and Jordan can pretty much tell Jeff straight up on what she wants to say and I'm thrilled that their relationship continued outside the house. 'have to realize that a lot of this show was edited to show drama.

I think he was probably just frustrated because any task that involves some critical thinking he needs to figure out himself. He can't count on Jordan to help.

You're right. . . it wasn't nice of him, but I'll admit I laughed anyway. . .

I never watch Big Brother so didn't know that. And it could have been "creatively" edited to show the reaction they want.

I never watch BB, either, so I had no idea who they were or what relationship they had. I have to confess, I cracked up when he said that.

I felt sorry for the other contestants. To have a challenge where you need to rope a "cow" and you just happen to have two cowboys as your fellow contestants...sheesh.

I have mixed feelings about the challenges. That first challenge where they had to cross the ropes looked pretty hard...but everything after that has looked fairly easy. I mean, what are the odds that everybody except the cowboys would win their poker hand on the first hand? (At least that's how it was edited to look.)

I don't think that the challenges are any easier this season. Have you ever tried to lasso something? That's definitely tedious for anyone. And lifting a wooden horse in addition to poloing a ball across a field - that'strenuous. I know I would have had to opt out on that one. And trekking across a field to find a bag of "loot" - well we saw how many "errors" occurred there. Nope, as far as I can tell the challenges are definitely still challenging.

Of course I have yet to see those annoying form a word from letters task ... those would be difficult for the intellectually challenged individuals.

quote:

ORIGINGAL: kitkatgirl 2012
Does that help?

Thanks for the explanation kitkatgirl but my confusion occurred because I thought that the cowboys 7pm bus was also at another terminal so I was wondering why they didn't dash off first before the others caught on. Then I thought that the 6:30 bus was leaving another terminal to arrive at that Tecuma terminal for 7am.
When I watched the tape I realised what was up - smart move on the cowboys part.

Anyway what's up with the "dating couple" approaching the cowboys in that manner. As one of the cowboys rightly said, not even a Hi. How are you? Just slapdash into believing that the cowboys have tricks up their sleeves. I don't trust that "dating couple" one bit. It appears to me that the keep looking for someone to pick on!

Wasn't it cute when Phil pointed out to tthe Argentinian cowboy to the American cowboys at the pitstop. He looked please to greet some foreign cowboys .

Was surprised to hear several of the contestants say they had never drank/ or seldom drink beer. That was a lot of beer for a non drinker to handle!! (Especially after eating that saurkraut!)

I am loving the cowboys more and more. The comment about no longer being in the "Bible belt" was priceless!
